ASSKT014: 14 DAYS KENYA TANZANIA COMBINED SAFARI

Day 1: Nairobi

Upon arrival, transfer from Nairobi airport to Nairobi Safari Club for an overnight on bed and breakfast.

Day 2: Nairobi - Samburu Game Reserve, Kenya

After breakfast, drive north of Nairobi through the Equator and ever changing landscapes to the plains of Samburu Game Reserve for game viewing drives in this area of dramatic scenery and unusual animal species. Arrive for lunch at your lodge and leisure by the poolside. Afternoon game viewing in this reserve in search of the endemic reticulated giraffe, grevy zebra, somali ostrich and other big game. Meals and overnight Samburu Sopa Lodge, B,L,D.

Day 3: Nairobi - Samburu Game Reserve, Kenya

Full day of game viewing drives in this dry semi-arid park with its striking background view of the Mathew's Range. The gently flowing Uaso Nyiro river which traverses this Park provides evergreen vegetation for the rare gerenuk, Grevy zebra and reticulated giraffe found in this park. All meals and overnight at Samburu Sopa Lodge, B,L,D

Day 4: Samburu - Mount Kenya National Park

After breakfast morning drive to Mount Kenya National Park to Mountain Lodge Serena, the premier tree lodge ever to be constructed in Mount Kenya. Afternoon is free for an optional nature walk - USD 30 per person. From the safety and comfort of the famous forest lodge, guests can enjoy night game viewing of animals gathering to drink at the floodlit waterhole. Dinner and overnight at Serena Mountain Lodge or Treetops Lodge in Aberdare National Park, B,L,D.

Day 5: Mount Kenya - Great Rift Valley Lake

After breakfast, descend from the lush highlands into the Rift Valley with its stunning volcanic landscapes. Arrive at Lake Nakuru for lunch and afternoon game viewing. The lake attracts thousands of lesser and greater flamingos among other tens of species of birds. There are a variety of bird species to watch in this lake. Not only does this lake boast of being a bird’s paradise, it is also a rhino sanctuary for the highly endangered black and white rhinos. Other animals found here include cheetahs, leopards, lions, waterbucks, zebras, gazelles, Rothschild Giraffe amongst many other others. Dinner and overnight at Flamingo Hill Camp, B,L,D.

Day 6, 7 & 8: Great Rift Valley - Masai Mara Game Reserve

After breakfast drive to the Masai Mara to arrive in time for lunch. Prolific in its wildlife, Maasai Mara is Kenya’s finest game reserve. Elephant and buffalo abound in the riverine forests, and herds of antelope and unusual lesser species may be seen on the endless plains together with attendant predators such as lion, cheetah and leopard. Meals and overnight Mara Sopa Lodge, B,L,D.

Day 9: Masai Mara - Nairobi - Lake Manyara National Park

Morning game viewing. After breakfast, enjoy a scenic flight over the Great Rift Valley to Nairobi. Connect with another flight to Kilimanjaro International Airport. Lunch in Arusha. Drive to Lake Manyara. Enjoy panoramic views over the escarpment of the Great Rift Valley. Meals and overnight Ngorongoro Sopa Lodge, B,L,D.

Day 10: Lake Manyara - Serengeti National Park

Distance: 270 km (4 hrs). After breakfast, depart Lake Manyara National Park and drive to the famous Serengeti National Park stopping on the way at Olduvai Gorge, the archaeological site made famous by Louis & Mary Leakey. Lunch and afternoon game drive in the most famous of all the sanctuaries and one of the last great strongholds of wildlife in the world. Dinner & overnight at Serengeti Serena Lodge or Serengeti Sopa Lodge, B, L,D.

Day 11. Serengeti

Morning and afternoon game drive in the park, with its huge concentration of plain game. A magnificent experience awaits as you travel to the most famous wildlife park in Africa the legendary Serengeti. Here you might have the chance to see the migration, where thousands of zebra and wildebeest make trip from the Masai Mara every year. All meals and overnight at Serengeti Serena Lodge or Serengeti Sopa Lodge, B, L,D.

Day 12: Serengeti/Ngorongoro:

After breakfast, enjoy an extended game drive enroute towards Ngorongoro Crater with packed lunch. The crater is one of the largest intact volcanic Caldera in the world, the crater floor offers game viewing to homely permanent population of more than 30 000 animals, and is one of the only places in Africa. Enjoy leisure and relaxation with sightseeing. Dinner and Overnight at the crater rim Ngorongoro Sopa Lodge, B,L,D.

Day 13: Ngorongoro Crater

Descend down to the Ngorongoro Crater, one of the wonders of the natural world. An extinct volcano that collapsed around 25 million years ago thus forming a vast super bowl where the largest permanent concentration of African game is on display. The views from the top of the crater wall are absolutely breathtaking which are forested but four wheel drive vehicles will take you down into this primeval paradise of woodland, lake, river, swamp and plain that shelters around 20,000 animals. Large grazing animals such as wildebeest, buffalo, gazelle and zebra that depends on the open grasslands in the crater. Attracting predators, the black-maned lion, the leopard and hyena. The elephant found are the lone males. The Fever Tree forests shelter monkeys, bushbuck and waterbuck and the few black rhino that have taken refuge here. A soda lake attracts water birds, including flamingoes and is a favourite place for predators to make their kill. Wildly beautiful as it is, it is not surprising that Ngorongoro Crater has been called a Garden of Eden. The game drives are done with packed lunch. In the evening, return to the lodge for dinner and overnight at the Ngorongoro Sopa Lodge, B,L,D.

Day 14: Ngrongoro Crater - Nairobi - Departure

After breakfast return to Arusha for lunch and afternoon flight to Nairobi for farewell dinner at The Carnivore Restaurant. Transfer to the airport for your departure flight out of Kenya, B,L.
