Walking Safaris/Trekking Safaris in Kenya
We have several different options when it comes to walking and trekking
safaris in Kenya.
Our main expeditions are on average 3 to 4 days in length and we visit both
the Loita and Chyulu Hills regions. Both destinations are truly wilderness
locations.
Our treks are not limited to these regions, we can customize walking safaris
to many different locations across Kenya and beyond.
Expeditions Trekking and Caving Chyulu Hills
-
3/4-Days
-
Day 1: We leave Nairobi at 0800 and head
south to Kibwezi, where we take a track 35kms into the hills. Another 20kms
sees us at the campsite, where we walk to ‘Leviathan’, one of the worlds
longest lava tube caves. Here we spend the rest of the day exploring sink
holes, lava tubes, stalagmites and stalactites, secondary water features all
whilst learning how these fascinating features were formed. In the evening,
enjoy a three-course meal before retiring to your sleeping bag where you
will be lulled to sleep by ‘the sounds of Africa’.
Day 2: Early morning caving or departure by road for the top of the
Chyulus’. Here we walk along the crest of undulating grasslands. Viewing
herds of Eland is a common event. As are sightings of giraffe, zebra,
wildebeest and sometimes even some of the ’big five’. There are also
probable views of Mt Kilimanjaro just 50kms away. Camp is made and dinner
served after your walk.
Day 3: Full day of walking along the crest of the hills
Day 4: Early morning game drive or walk before a late breakfast. We
then travel along the crest road and down the western side of the Chyulus’
for the drive back to Nairobi before nightfall
