ASSTL 402: 4 Days Lake Manyara, Ngorongoro & Tarangire Tanzania Safari

Departs daily at 9am.

Day 1. Arusha - Lake Manyara National Park

Distance: 130 km (2hrs 30 minutes). Pick up from your hotel in Arusha and depart to Lake Manyara National Park for lunch and afternoon game viewing. Lake Manyara is a birdwatcher's paradise. Marvel at the variety of species, spoonbill, teal, pelican, kingfisher, hornbill and cormorant. In the tall trees, forest monkeys leap from branch to branch on the slope of the Great Rift escarpment, elephants stand in the shade of the baobab; and in the acacia woodland, lions lie draped along the branches of the umbrella trees. Day 2. Lake Manyara - Ngorongoro Crater

Distance: 60 km (1 hr. 30 minutes). After breakfast, drive towards Ngorongoro Crater with packed lunch. The crater is one of the largest intact volcanic Caldera in the world, the crater floor offers game viewing to homely permanent population of more than 30 000 animals, and is one of the only places in Africa. Large grazing animals such as wildebeest, buffalo, gazelle and zebra that depends on the open grasslands in the crater. Attracting predators, the black-maned lion, the leopard and hyena. The elephant found are the lone males. The Fever Tree forests shelter monkeys, bushbuck and waterbuck and the few black rhino that have taken refuge here. A soda lake attracts water birds, including flamingoes and is a favourite place for predators to make their kill. Wildly beautiful as it is, it is not surprising that Ngorongoro Crater has been called a Garden of Eden. Enjoy game drive in the crater floor. Later in the evening, ascend for dinner and Overnight at the crater rim Ngorongoro Serena Lodge or Ngorongoro Sopa Lodge, B,L,D.

Day 3. Ngorongoro Crater - Tarangire National Park

Distance: 95 km (1 hr. 30 minutes). After breakfast, drive to Tarangire National Park for game viewing arrive at your lodge in time for lunch and leisure. In the afternoon you'll be taken on a game drive through the park. Many of the animals congregate around the only source of permanent water in the park, the Tarangire River. This is the best place in Tanzania to see really big herds of elephants of up to 300 at a time on safari. Dinner and overnight at Tarangire Sopa Lodge or Tarangire River Camp, B,L,D.

Day 4: Tarangire National Park - Arusha

Distance: 120 km (2 hrs). Early morning game viewing. After breakfast, depart Tarangire National Park and return to Arusha where the tour ends, B
